So,
the beginning of 2010, how to describe it? Hot and wet.
In January we had 172mm in 6 days and then in February, we had 274mm over 7 days
bringing the rainfall for the first 2 months to 446mm. January's average is
38mm, while February is 41mm. A big difference to what we got. Our yearly
average is 278mm! We blew that in February alone! So needless to say, the Todd
River has run a few times this year already.
The neighbours had punched a hole in the adjoining fence some
time ago to drain their court yards. So each time it rain, we get flooded. This
has now been concreted up. Flood no more!
We also brought a 2700ltr rain water tank to prevent more flooding and even
though this fills from only 1 of the 3 down pipes, we were able to fill it 3
times in 3 days! We had to keep draining it to the road. Now it is full to use
on the garden.

The usual state the river is left in.

Out and about after the rains.

Took some friends out to John Haye's
Rock hole
and Trephina Gorge.
Notice the damage on the tree trunks (and how high) from
when the river ran a few weeks earlier.

Anzac Day and Joshua's first march.
Josh on the right.
At the end of June Josh went away for
annual Army Cadet camp in Darwin, so we made the most of it and went away
ourselves! We slowly made our way up to Darwin to pick Josh up, dropping in on
some places we have never been and seeing some of our favourite places.
After picking up Josh, we went out to
Ngukurr (South East Arnhem Land) to see Joshua's best friend Aaron.

This is the first time Phil has crossed the Roper with out
driving the truck and van since 97
We came home via the Nathan River Road
(Roper Bar - Cape Crawford). Here are some of the sights
Back home and some photos of our frosts.
Josh at the Alice Springs airport on the way to China.
The LOTE Group that went to China.
The Great Wall of China. Josh saw no
rabbits though.
